Founding Account Executive, Fixed Income
New York, NY
OpenYield is an API-first institutional marketplace bringing scalable, systematic execution to fixed income. The platform connects brokerages, advisors, and asset managers with leading electronic market makers, delivering firm, executable pricing across corporate, municipal, and Treasurys. With liquidity from leading market makers including Flow Traders, Virtu, and TD Securities, OpenYield delivers $25B+ in live inventory to 60+ brokerages, advisors, and asset managers representing more than $5 trillion in client assets.
The role
We're hiring our first dedicated sales hire — a founding originator to generate commercial traction now and build the GTM function around themselves over time. This is a hunter seat. You'll run the top of the funnel, drive full-cycle deals, and personally sign the brokerages, advisory platforms, asset managers, and dealers that will shape OpenYield's next chapter. You'll also help us productize and sell our data services across the buy-side and sell-side.
This is a build-by-doing seat. There is no team to manage yet — you create the playbook by closing deals, and you grow the team around you once the motion is proven. Day one is about generating pipeline and signing logos. Over time, this seat can scale into a leadership role as the company grows. The ceiling on the role is the ceiling of the company.
You'll work directly with the founder and product/engineering leadership. We have a foundation to build on — live customers, real pipeline, a CRM, working systems — but the function is yours to shape. You'll keep what works, rip out what doesn't, and codify the way OpenYield sells from here.
What you'll do
- Originate. Prospect into brokerages, RIAs, asset managers, dealers, and data buyers — by phone, email, Bloomberg IB chat, in person, and through your network. You manufacture your own pipeline.
- Close. Run full-cycle deals from first touch through technical eval, integration scoping, contract, and go-live.
- Sell across the stack: trading access, platform integrations, and data licenses.
- Sharpen the motion. Refine our ICPs, segment the market, tighten the pitch, and instrument the funnel.
- Translate market signal into product. You'll be the closest seat to our customers — what you hear should shape the roadmap.
- Represent OpenYield with senior buy-side and sell-side counterparties — heads of trading, fixed income tech leads, COOs, CIOs.
- Forecast accurately and report cleanly to the executive team.
What we're looking for
Non-negotiable — you manufacture your own pipeline. You can point to specific deals where you sourced the first meeting yourself: cold, through your network, or by being resourceful. Logos you personally originated and closed, not inherited or fed to you by inbound. This matters more than seniority, title history, or years in seat.
Must-have
- Roughly 5–10 years selling into capital markets — fixed income preferred, but strong equities, derivatives, or market data backgrounds welcome. What you've actually closed and how you operate matters more than the year count.
- Enough credibility and network to get a head of trading, COO, or fixed income tech lead on the phone — and the hunger to still do the prospecting yourself.
- Working fluency in trading workflows and how a platform plugs into a brokerage or asset manager.
- Early-stage temperament. You're energized by ambiguity, you ship without a manager telling you to, and you can build the function while you're hitting your number.
- Excellent written and verbal communication — you can explain a fixed income microstructure problem to a CTO and an API integration to a head of trading.
- Willingness to travel for customer meetings, conferences, and industry events.
Bonus
- Deeper technical depth: OMS/EMS integrations, FIX, APIs.
- Comfort selling data products in addition to platform access, and selling to both the buy-side and sell-side.
- Tech-forward and AI-native — you already use LLMs daily and have wired together tools to compound your own output. Capital markets sales is changing fast, and we like people who'd rather build a workflow than do the same thing twice.
Why this seat
Fixed income is in the middle of its biggest structural change in 25 years, and OpenYield is one of a small number of companies actually rebuilding the infrastructure underneath it. You'd own the founding sales seat at a venture-backed startup with real distribution, real volume, real backing from the largest market makers on the planet, and a long runway to build the franchise.
What we offer
- New York City preferred. We operate in a high-bandwidth environment where proximity to the founder, leadership, customers, and market helps us move faster. We have flexibility for the right person.
- Meaningful equity. This is a founding commercial hire, and the equity reflects it. Cash rewards production; equity is where you build real upside as the franchise grows.
- Ownership. You will define the GTM motion, shape the product roadmap through customer signal, and build the commercial foundation for the company.
- A fast, open, truth-seeking culture. We value direct communication, intellectual honesty, high standards, and people who care more about getting to the right answer than being right.
- A front-row seat to the modernization of the second-largest asset class in the world.
Compensation
In accordance with New York City's Pay Transparency Law, the base salary range for this role is $160,000 to $200,000, plus uncapped variable compensation tied to commercial performance, The role also includes meaningful equity. Placement within the range is dependent on level of experience. Base salary does not include other forms of compensation or benefits.
